Hillsborough County launches mobile office for tax collector services

HCTC in the Spotlight: Hillsborough County is launching the MILES bus (Mobile IDs, Licenses and Essential Services) in June – a rolling tax collector office designed to bring services like license and registration renewals, title and plate processing, and hunting/fishing licenses directly to residents.

The bus aims to cut down on long wait times at traditional offices, and will travel to senior centers, libraries, neighborhood events, and county jails. It’s also ADA-accessible. At roughly $380,000, Tax Collector Nancy Millan says it’s a far cheaper alternative to building a new branch location. Its first stop will be Tampa General Hospital.
