Networking event on July 13 offers a firsthand look at MILES Bus services and a chance to explore bringing the mobile unit to local businesses, events, and facilities 

TAMPA, Fla., July 9, 2026 – Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy C. Millan is inviting local business leaders and community partners to see the MILES Bus in action at “Noodles & Networking,” a networking event co-hosted by Elevate, Inc. and Elite Rewards on Monday, July 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jay Luigi SoHo, 516 S. Howard Ave. in Tampa. 

The MILES Bus – short for Mobile IDs, Licenses, and Essential Services – will be parked on site throughout the event, giving attendees the opportunity to take care of driver license services, registrations and titles, parking permits, and more without ever leaving the gathering. Guests will also have the chance to speak directly with Tax Collector’s Office staff about what it takes to bring the MILES Bus to their own business, event, or facility. 

Since its launch, the MILES Bus has traveled across Hillsborough County to meet residents where they need it the most, reducing barriers to essential government services for neighborhoods, workplaces, and community events alike. “Noodles & Networking” marks a new opportunity for the business community to learn how a MILES Bus visit could benefit their employees, customers, or event guests. 

“The MILES Bus was built on a simple idea: government service should meet people where they are,” said Tax Collector Nancy Millan. “Events like Noodles & Networking give our business community a chance to see that idea in motion and to imagine what it could look like for their own employees, customers, or guests. We’re excited to grow these partnerships across Hillsborough County.” 

Business leaders, community leaders, property managers, and assisted living facilities personnel are all encouraged to attend and explore partnership opportunities. Representatives from the Tax Collector’s Office will be available to answer questions about scheduling, service offerings, and how the MILES Bus program works.

TAMPA, Fla., July 7, 2026 – When students are prepared and equipped with everything they need for the school year without teachers needing to spend out of their own pocket for supplies, everyone wins. That’s why the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office is once again supporting the Hillsborough Education Foundation by hosting a school supply drive throughout the month of July. This marks over 16 years of collaboration between the two organizations to ensure local students have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.

All Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s offices will serve as donation drop-off locations, collecting essential school supplies that will be distributed through the Hillsborough Education Foundation’s Teaching Tools Store. The store provides free supplies to teachers across the county, with special emphasis on supporting educators from schools serving underprivileged communities.

“Every year, our team looks forward to this drive because we see firsthand what it means to our local teachers and students,” said Nancy Millan, Hillsborough County Tax Collector. “A backpack full of supplies can be the difference between a student walking into class feeling ready and confident, or feeling like they’re already behind. This is our way of making sure every child starts the school year prepared to succeed.”

Last year, the Hillsborough County Tax Collector team and generous community members donated over 34,000 items, and are hoping to exceed that goal for this year. These supplies directly benefit teachers and students throughout Hillsborough County’s public schools, particularly those in areas where families face financial challenges in preparing for the school year.

The Hillsborough Education Foundation has supported public education in the county through advocacy, resource investment, and innovative programs. Their Teaching Tools Store serves as a vital resource for educators who often spend their own money on classroom supplies.

Hillsborough County Tax Collector Honored for Transformational Leadership and a Lifelong Commitment to Performance Excellence 

TAMPA, Fla., June 5, 2026 – The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office (HCTC) is proud to announce that Tax Collector Nancy Millan has been named the 2026 recipient of the John A. Pieno, Jr. Sterling Leadership Award by The Sterling Council. The award was presented at the Governor’s Sterling Award Banquet during the 34th Sterling Leadership Conference. 

Established in January 2025 by The Sterling Council Board of Directors and sponsored by The Sterling Foundation, the Sterling Leadership Award recognizes exceptional leaders who exemplify Sterling Core Values. The award is named in honor of the late John A. Pieno, Jr., Founder and Chair Emeritus of The Sterling Council – a decorated Navy captain who completed more than 200 Vietnam missions, earned three Silver Stars, and dedicated more than 60 years of his life to leadership and performance excellence. 

Tax Collector Nancy Millan’s selection reflects a career defined by service, innovation, and a commitment to the people of Hillsborough County. Beginning as an accounting clerk and rising to the position of elected Tax Collector during her career of 37 years, Millan has built an organization that consistently exceeds the expectations of the more than one million customers it serves annually. Her “Golden Thread” leadership framework connects every team member’s daily work to the office’s broader mission and contributed to HCTC earning Florida’s Governor’s Sterling Award in 2025 for the second time in the office’s history. 

“Receiving this award is a profound honor, not just for me personally, but for every member of our team who shows up each day committed to excellence in service,” said Millan. “Our relationship with The Sterling Council has shaped who we are as an organization. The Baldrige-based Sterling framework, which we have used at the Tax Collector’s office for 20 years, has given us a common language, a continuous improvement mindset, and the discipline to hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards. Earning the Governor’s Sterling Award in 2025 was a milestone we celebrated together as a team, and the honor of being recognized with the John A Pieno, Jr. Sterling Leadership Award reinforces what I’ve always believed: transformational leadership isn’t about one person, it’s about building a culture where everyone rises together. I am deeply grateful to The Sterling Council and The Sterling Foundation for this recognition, and I accept it on behalf of every member of the HCTC family.”

TAMPA, Fla., May 27, 2026 – Every day, our customers come to us with real needs — renewing a driver license, registering a vehicle, and handling matters that are important to their daily lives. When the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ (FLHSMV) state systems experience prolonged outages, local tax collector offices are unable to complete those transactions. These systems and their reliability are outside the control of local offices, yet our employees are the ones standing face-to-face with frustrated customers while having little information to provide beyond notices that the state is troubleshooting the issue and updates will come when available.

This is not an isolated issue. These outages continue to impact tax collector offices across Florida and the thousands of residents who rely on these services every day. Despite having no control over the system failures or restoration timeline, Hillsborough County Tax Collector staff remain committed to serving customers and assisting them however possible during these disruptions.

TAMPA, Fla. (May 20, 2026) – The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office (HCTC) celebrated the grand opening of its newest service location yesterday, cutting the ribbon to celebrate essential government service accessibility directly on MacDill AFB. The new office, located inside the Base Exchange (BX) at MacDill Air Force Base, is now open and ready to serve the base’s active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their families.

Tax Collector Nancy Millan was joined at the ceremony by Colonel Szczepanik, MacDill Air Force Base, local leaders, county and state elected officials, along with HCTC team members and guests from across the community.

“For the men and women who serve our country, Veterans, and our military community, having an office at MacDill means they no longer have to leave the base to take care of important government needs,” said Tax Collector Nancy Millan. “This is about honoring their service by bringing these essential government services to them – and making sure they have access to the same fast, friendly service every resident of Hillsborough County deserves.”

The new location offers the full suite of Hillsborough County Tax Collector services, including:

• Driver license and ID card services
• Vehicle registration and title transactions
• Property tax payments
• Hunting and fishing license issuance
• And more

Base access is required to visit the MacDill office. Residents who do not have base access are encouraged to visit any of the Tax Collector’s eight other Hillsborough County locations or access many services online at HillsTaxFL.gov.

The MacDill location represents the latest milestone in Tax Collector Millan’s ongoing effort to expand access to government services across Hillsborough County. Just recently, the office has launched the MILES mobile service bus – a fully equipped vehicle that brings Tax Collector services directly into neighborhoods. The MacDill office continues that tradition of innovation by extending services into a vital part of our community.

TAMPA, FL, May 14, 2026 – The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office and Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) today announced an innovative partnership to integrate THEA toll clearance capabilities directly into the Tax Collector’s online motor vehicle registration renewal system. The integration ends the frustrating cycle of being bounced between agencies. Customers no longer need to contact THEA separately to clear their Lee Roy Selmon Expressway tolls, wait days for clearance to process, and then make a return trip to a Tax Collector office just to complete a registration renewal. Now, it all happens in one seamless online transaction at HillsTaxFL.gov.

Previously, customers with outstanding THEA toll holds faced a frustrating multi-stop process: contact THEA by phone or online, pay the outstanding tolls, wait for the clearance to process across systems, and then return to HillsTaxFL.gov — or make an in-person trip to a Tax Collector office — to complete their registration renewal. For many customers, this meant multiple attempts, repeat office visits, and days of delay. With the new THEA integration, customers can now clear their tolls and complete their registration renewals immediately in a single online transaction at HillsTaxFL.gov.

“Many of our Selmon Expressway customers do not realize they have an unpaid toll balance until they arrive to renew their vehicle registration, often because their mailing information has changed over time,” said Greg Slater, Executive Director & CEO of Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority. “This innovative partnership with the Hillsborough Tax Collector streamlines the process so customers can quickly resolve unpaid tolls and complete their registration without delays. The integration, enabled through collaboration between the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office, THEA, and technology partner GrantStreet Group, automatically removes registration renewal holds once toll payments are processed. For customers, this means the frustrating cycle of repeat office visits, being bounced between agencies, and multi-day waiting periods is now completely eliminated.

Notably, the Tax Collector’s Office previously integrated Central Florida Expressway (CFX) toll clearance, meaning customers now have access to a comprehensive solution for clearing both major toll authorities in a single online transaction – a level of convenience and accessibility rarely seen in government services.

TAMPA, Fla., May 8, 2026 – The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office is hosting its next Saturday License Services event on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Brandon office located at 3030 N. Falkenburg Rd. The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and offers driver license services by appointment for both students and eligible residents.

Saturday License Services provides an opportunity for students to complete road tests, knowledge tests, and driver license or learner’s permit issuance without missing a school day. The event also offers standard driver license renewal services for eligible license holders who are unable to visit during regular weekday hours.

“Saturday License Services was created for the residents of Hillsborough County as an added convenience for our community who might not be able to make an office visit during the work week,” said Tax Collector Nancy Millan. “Whether you’re a student working toward your first license or an adult who needs to renew, we want to make this process as convenient as possible.”
