June is National Safety Awareness Month, and our agency is proud to bring important safety resources directly to our community. Throughout June, we will be hosting a series of Safety Awareness Outreach Events at several office locations.

These events offer visitors the opportunity to learn more about personal and community safety, access valuable resources, and receive select free screenings provided by partner organizations.

Open House Event Success!

The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s office successfully hosted an Open House on Thursday, November 6, 2025, welcoming community members, partners, and local leaders to tour our Downtown office operations and learn more about us. The event provided an inside look at HCTC’s achievements, innovations, and the dedication of #TeamHCTC.

Tax Collector Nancy Millan welcomed guests and shared HCTC’s strategic direction, highlighting the organization’s four strategic priorities: Amazing Service Experiences, Fiscal Accountability and Transparency, Innovation and Improvement, and Creating a Culture of Success.

Event Highlights

The guided tour experience featured presentations from several HCTC team members who showcased their specialized areas. Attendees learned about the organization’s impressive service record of over 1.06 million customers served annually while maintaining a 4.8 Google Reviews rating, and HCTC’s responsible stewardship of over $3.7 billion in revenue collected for local governments and taxing authorities.

Tour highlights included the Downtown branch operations, demonstrations of innovative services like Mobile ID Go which brings driver license services directly to the community, and technology improvements including kiosk expansion and Smart Lockers available at select locations.

The event concluded with a celebration of HCTC’s prestigious 2025 Governor’s Sterling Award, Florida’s highest honor for organizational performance excellence. This achievement marks HCTC’s second Sterling Award, reaffirming the organization’s 20-year commitment to continuous improvement and exceptional service.

Property Tax Simplified Workshop Success!

The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s office successfully hosted its 3rd Annual Property Tax Simplified Workshop, drawing an impressive attendance of nearly 60 in-person participants and 45 virtual attendees via Zoom. The educational event brought together over 100 real estate professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of property tax processes and procedures.

Tax Collector Nancy Millan expressed her enthusiasm for the strong turnout and the dedication shown by the real estate community in pursuing continued education. The workshop featured presentations from several distinguished guest speakers who shared their specialized knowledge with attendees.

The event’s success was made possible through the expertise of notable presenters including Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob Henriquez CFA, representatives from the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s team, the Hillsborough County Clerk of Court & Comptroller’s office, and Brenda Flatter from Title & Abstract Agency of America, Inc. These professionals generously contributed their time and knowledge to support the educational mission of the workshop.

Special recognition goes to the event sponsors who made this workshop possible. The Suncoast Tampa Association of Realtors graciously hosted the event at their Tampa headquarters, while the Florida Land Title Association provided additional support. Their partnership demonstrates the collaborative effort within the industry to promote professional development and knowledge sharing among real estate professionals in the Tampa Bay area.

The workshop continues to serve as an important resource for the real estate community, providing valuable insights into property tax matters that directly impact their daily operations and client services.

The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office is proud to partner with the Hillsborough Education Foundation’s Teaching Tools Resource Center for our annual school supply drive. This community initiative helps ensure that local teachers have the resources they need to create engaging learning environments for our students.

About the Teaching Tools Resource Center

The Teaching Tools Resource Center serves as a free resource hub for Hillsborough County educators. Teachers can visit the center twice per semester to “shop” for essential classroom supplies, materials for special projects, and items for students in need. Your donations directly support teachers in our community who often use their own funds to supply their classrooms.

National Safety Month Events at Hillsborough County Tax Collector Offices

Safety Month 2025 Wrap-Up

What a fantastic June we had! The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office wrapped up its annual Safety Month events with dozens of community members taking advantage of free services across all six participating offices. It’s been incredible to see how bringing essential health services directly to our local tax collector offices has made such a difference in removing barriers for families who need these resources.

The numbers tell an amazing story – Lions World Vision Institute’s Glazer Mobile Vision Clinic provided free vision screenings to 54 children, and 34 of them walked away with new glasses!

Meanwhile, Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation was busy helping folks with hearing screenings and consultations through their mobile units. They were able to provide 12 participants with hearing screenings! Our other community partners were equally impactful, offering everything from safety education to family support resources.

We can’t thank our community partners enough for making this happen: Lions World Vision Institute, Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation, Hillsborough Fire Rescue, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Highway Patrol, Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, USF Center for Urban Transportation Research, and the YMCA. Their partnership and commitment to our community’s health and safety is what makes events like this possible.

Town ‘n Country Community Recovery Event with Wilmer Valderrama

The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office is proud to partner with Wilmer Valderrama, Operation BBQ Relief, and EPU for a special community outreach event in support of Town ‘N Country’s recovery from Hurricanes Helene & Milton. This event brings together local leaders, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies to provide vital services, resources, and a free BBQ meal for residents as they continue to rebuild.

HCTC Partners with the Lions Eye Institute & Glazer Vision Foundation to bring the Mobile Vision Clinic to Tax Collector Offices

We are excited to announce our new community partnership with the Lions Eye Institute and Glazer Vision Foundation to bring the Mobile Vision Clinic to our offices during the month of June!

80% of all vision impairment can be prevented or cured, however 1 in 5 children cannot afford eye care. The Mobile Vision Clinic offers top medical resources and cutting-edge technology to provide eye exams and prescription glasses within 3 hours to children in need – all at no cost to the child.

The Mobile Vision Clinic will be at the following locations and available between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. providing free eye exams and glasses for children ages 5 – 17 years old.

June 10 – Drew Park | 4100 W. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

June 16 – East Tampa | 2814 E. Hillsborough Ave.

June 17 – North Tampa | 3011 University Center Dr.

Results:

We are happy to share that we had over 160 participants in the Mobile Vision Clinic, with 75 passed vision screenings, 81 glasses prescriptions given, 77 glasses made on site, and 22 first time glasses wearers.
