Hillsborough Tax Collector Offers Special Saturday Hours For Driver License Services

Tampa, FL — April 16, 2025

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County residents needing driver’s license services will have a convenient weekend option this Saturday. The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office announced a special “Saturday License Services” event on April 19, 2025, from 9 AM to 2 PM at its Brandon location, offering both student driving services and adult license renewals.

The event, held at the office located at 3030 N Falkenburg Rd., aims to provide a one-stop solution for busy families and individuals. Services will include road tests, knowledge tests, and the issuance of driver’s licenses and learner’s permits for students. Additionally, residents whose driver’s licenses were issued in 2018 or earlier can complete their renewals during these special Saturday hours.

“We’re constantly looking for ways to better serve our community by making essential services more accessible,” said Tax Collector Nancy Millan. “By combining student services with resident driver license renewals on a Saturday, we’re responding to the growing demand while making it easier for our customers to take care of these important matters without disrupting their weekday schedules.”

The initiative comes as Hillsborough County faces a significant increase in demand for driver’s license services. Officials anticipate nearly 490,000 driver’s licenses and IDs will need renewal over the next three years, with approximately 200,000 requiring an in-person visit. Tax Collector offices are already serving over 4,200 customers daily, sometimes reaching 5,000 during peak periods.

This special Saturday event is designed to accommodate the unprecedented demand, offer an option for those unable to visit during standard Monday-Friday business hours, and help reduce wait times during this critical renewal period.

Millan also advised residents to plan ahead. “We encourage residents to check their license expiration dates and take advantage of the ability to renew up to 18 months in advance,” she added. “This can help avoid the expected rush as the 8-year renewal cycle peaks in 2025.”

Appointments Required

Services during the April 19 event are available by appointment only. Residents should call (813) 347-4386 to schedule. The Tax Collector’s office reminds applicants that specific requirements apply for all knowledge and road tests, and necessary documentation is needed for license renewals. Detailed information on requirements can be found online at www.hillstaxfl.gov/saturday-license-services/.

Wilmer Valderrama traded his NCIS badge for barbecue tongs, and the Town ‘n’ Country, Florida community couldn’t be more grateful. On March 29, the actor rolled in with his E.P.U. team to help locals still struggling after Hurricanes Helene and Milton hit back-to-back last fall, per sources.

Partnering with Operation BBQ Relief and the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office, Valderrama helped serve over 2,500 hot meals. But it wasn’t just about food, it was about hope. Locals got face-to-face help with storm recovery, insurance issues, and property claims.

And yep, he was right in the mix, serving, chatting, and lifting spirits.

Backed by his brand E.P.U. (E Pluribus Unum), the actor showed unity in action. This was a powerful reminder that community strength always rises after the storm.

Sometimes a hot plate and a familiar face are exactly what it takes to start healing.

Wilmer Valderrama, the “That ’70s Show” and “NCIS” star, was back in Florida to help the hurricane recovery efforts in Tampa’s West Park neighborhood. Valderrama — who is from Florida — teamed up with Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy Millan and Operation BBQ Relief to help local residents affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton. The event served 2,500 meals, part of Operation BBQ Relief’s broader mission, which has delivered nearly 13 million meals nationwide, with many benefiting Florida communities.

Valderrama emphasized the strength of the neighborhood, saying, “Not only does this city still stand, but it finds a way to live life and thrive — something we could all learn from.” He engaged with residents in Spanish, listened to their stories, and praised their resilience in the face of repeated natural disasters. “We’re able to engage in immediate and real-time, and I’m proud of that,” he added. “I think today, most artists are understanding that activism has got to be a natural and organic extension of who we are as artists in this industry. It’s our responsibility.”

Local leaders, such as Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob Henriquez, Florida Senator Jay Collins, and U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, supported the effort, reiterating the need for recovery in the aftermath of the disaster.

Valderrama also started a lifestyle brand in 2024, E.P.U., inspired by military style and dedicated to making a difference, with part of proceeds going to the USO.

A Latino voting rights champion and a USO supporter since 2007, Valderrama continues to combine activism with his work, using his platform to elevate underrepresented communities.

TV actor visits hurricane-affected community

Tampa, FL — March 31, 2025

Wilmer Valderrama, a Florida native, meets community leaders, residents

By MIKE CAMUNAS, Tampa Beacon

Mar 31, 2025

TOWN ‘N’ COUNTRY — Wilmer Valderrama, former star of TV sitcom “That ‘70s Show” and a series regular on “NCIS,” came to Tampa as part of a community outreach event for those impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The 45-year-old star, entrepreneur and activist, who was born in Miami, joined forces with Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy Millan and Operation BBQ Relief to celebrate the resilience of a neighborhood still rebuilding almost six months after flooding and other damage.

Free meals were distributed in the West Park neighborhood, which includes hundreds of homes in Town ‘N’ Country near Leto High School that saw serious storm flooding. Valderrama met with volunteers, Hillsborough Fire first responders and residents grabbing selfies with the actor who played “Fez” on “That ‘70s Show” for eight seasons.

“I think Florida, as a whole has shown over many decades a lot of resilience,” he said. “(Tampa) was hit with two catastrophes and there is no stopping a natural disaster. Not only does this city still stand, but it finds a way to live life and thrive — something we could all learn from.

“I come from Los Angeles, and they’ve experienced one of the most horrific disasters in the state’s history (with recent wildfires),” he noted. “And one thing we all have in common — whether it’s Florida or California or Louisiana — when this happens, people really wake up and that’s something that I’m grateful to help raise awareness on, how we can come together and help out.

“This area — the people of Tampa and their resilience — we can celebrate them for that.”

Valderrama has become a prominent activist for many causes, including Latino voting rights and participation, as well as supporting the USO, well before he joined the CBS’ military police procedural series in 2016.

Since 2007, Valderrama has toured for the USO dozens of times, and in 2024 he founded a lifestyle brand for women and men called E.P.U., which stands for E Pluribus Unum — Latin for “out of many, one.” The clothes are inspired by bootcamp gear and other military garb, and a portion of the sales go to the USO.

Valderrama also has worked closely with Operation BBQ Relief, or OBR.

Founded in 2011, the organization has provided nearly 13 million meals across 42 states and internationally. Since 2018, OBR has served more than 3 million meals in Florida alone and provided more than 1 million meals to Floridians after Helene and Milton.

At the event at West Park, OBR provided about 2,500 free meals to residents that took notice of Hillsborough Fire Rescue’s massive SHERP vehicles on site and, of course, a Hollywood star mingling with those on hand.

Said County Tax Collector Nancy Millan: “I was just honored that (Valderrama) picked us out of everywhere he could be and shed some light on this area that really needs it. … Sometimes, people think the government is just going to show up in critical times and then go away, but we’re here, knowing that it takes time to get back to normal because Hillsborough County is still here for them.”

Other government and local officials at the event included Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob Henriquez, Florida senator Jay Collins and U.S. Representative Kathy Castor.

Though Valerrama didn’t have any personal connection to this Town ‘N’ Country community, it still lined up with his philanthropic endeavors. The small neighborhood has some military ties, but also a deeply rooted Latino heritage and history.

Valderrama spoke to several residents in Spanish and took time to hear their stories. As someone with Florida ties, including those when he came back to the U.S. after living in Venezuela until he was 13, Valderrama knows all too well how hurricanes can turn people’s lives upside down in a matter of hours.

“I’m no stranger to having to call my friends and make sure they’re good,” he said. “It’s the same story every decade that a different (Florida) community experiences something on this level and that’s something this state sees way too often.”

Wilmer Valderrama surprises Florida community with much-needed hurricane relief

Tampa, FL —

The Venezuelan actor showed his support in the rebuilding efforts, and the spirit of teamwork is stronger than ever

Wilmer Valderrama isn’t just about Hollywood and red carpets—he’s about action. The NCIS star and his team at E.P.U. rolled into Town ‘n’ Country, Florida, with a mission: to help a community still reeling from back-to-back hurricanes that tore through the area last fall.

Town ‘n’ Country was hit hard twice. First, Hurricane Helene unleashed massive storm surges that left streets underwater, homes in ruins, and residents scrambling for safety. Before the community had a chance to recover, Hurricane Milton came in like an unwelcome sequel, leaving an even bigger mess in its wake. Piles of waterlogged belongings lined curbsides, insurance battles dragged on, and families were left figuring out how to start over.

Fast-forward to Saturday, March 29, and the rebuilding spirit was stronger than ever. Wilmer Valderrama and his team joined forces with Operation BBQ Relief and the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office for a day dedicated to giving back. The event provided resources and reminded residents they weren’t alone in this fight.

Serving Up Support (and BBQ!)

At the heart of the event was a simple but powerful gesture: a hot meal. The Operation BBQ Relief team served over 2,500 plates of food, with Wilmer and his crew right there in the mix, serving and connecting with locals. Sometimes, a warm plate of food is more than just nourishment; it’s a sign of hope.

Beyond the BBQ, the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office was on-site to assist homeowners and business owners still dealing with the aftermath of the storms. From guidance on property claims to essential paperwork, the goal was to provide real, tangible help where it was needed most.

More Than Just Activewear

E.P.U. stands for E Pluribus Unum—Latin for Out of Many, One—and that message couldn’t be more fitting for a day like this. Wilmer’s activewear brand doesn’t just promote movement; it promotes unity. A portion of the sales supports the USO and its mission to aid service members and their families, making it more than just a fashion statement.

At the end of the day, this wasn’t about celebrity spotlight or brand promotion; it was about people.

It was about neighbors helping neighbors, strangers coming together, and proving that even after the worst storms, a community’s strength can outshine any disaster.
